Research Philosophy
The
research projects of Scientia Terrae are all conducted in the
framework of "preventative plant health management".
The basic premise of this philosophy is that a plant is healthy
and should be kept so by preventative measures rather than treating
a sick plant with curative treatments. Plant health is influenced
by abiotic and biotic factors, illustrated in the
plant health triangle.
These factors not only affect plant growth and health directly,
they also impact plant-microorganism (both beneficial and pathogenic)
and pathogen-beneficial microorganism interactions. Therefore,
as many of these factors as possible are being considered by Scientia
Terrae when conducting research in plant and soil microbial ecology.
